The aroma coming from the oven when these juicy spiced pears were cooking… It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!
These pears would be a lush brekki to have on a cold winters morning or as healthy dessert. The recipe couldn’t be anymore easier!
HEALTH TIP- Nutmad activate their nuts which makes them much easier to digest and absorb the nutrients. Nuts, legumes and grains contain anti nutrients, enzyme inhibitors and other thangs that can irrrate the gut lining, so by ‘activating’ or sprouting these foods you remove those substances 🤓 I will be writing a blog post soon about this and how to properly prepare these foods like our ancestors did!
SPICED CARAMELISED PEARS WITH SALTED MAPLE WALNUTS & ALMONG YOG
Servings: 2
Ingredients
Pears
- 2 ripe pears, sliced and cored
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 2 tsp coconut oil melted
To serve
- 1 cup almond yog, i used Nush
- 1-2 tsp maple syrup
- 1 Handful chopped walnuts, i used Nutmad activated salted maple caramel walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180c
- Whisk all the ingredients apart from the pears in a small bowl until the oil has emulsified.
- Bung the pears into a medium baking dish or a oven proof frying pan. One that fits the pears snug if poss (prevents the maple syrup burning) Pour and rub the spiced maple syrup over the pears, lay flat side down.
- Pop in the oven for 25-30 mins. Baste the pears half way through with the spiced maple sauce.
- Mix the yog with the maple syrup. Dollop onto the pears and sprinkle with walnuts.
Notes
The pears will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. Can be eaten cold or warmed through in the oven or microwave.
